Certified Inpatient Coder®
Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC®) is exclusively for Hospital and facility Inpatient coding. CIC Certified coder will have an expertise in abstracting information from medical records for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding. They will also have a clear understanding of Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) which is the fundamental for Inpatient coding and MS-DRG (Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups)
Those who earn their CIC® credential can code services rendered in Inpatient settings such as Acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), Inpatient rehab facilities, Trauma care facilities, critical access hospitals (CAH) and long-term care hospitals (LTCH).
